The unit of analysis may be the human–AI pair

A question about whether some AI-enabled work is better understood by studying the combined human–AI system rather than either actor independently.

Yet in practice, judgment, prompting, interpretation, verification, and iteration can form one interdependent workflow. That raises a methodological question: in some settings, should the relevant unit of analysis be the individual, the AI system, the task, or the human–AI configuration performing the task?
