The unit of analysis may be the human–AI pair

Many discussions still separate the person and the technology too cleanly. Yet in practice, judgment, prompting, interpretation, verification, and iteration can form one interdependent workflow.
That raises a methodological question: in some settings, should the relevant unit of analysis be the individual, the AI system, the task, or the human–AI configuration performing the task?
